Module 7 Basics of maturity assurance in new part projects RGA

Description and objectives:

The development of new vehicles in the automotive industry usually takes place in projects lasting several years, involving many suppliers along the entire supply chain, right through to the raw material.

This complex supply chain structure and the increasing risks posed by more complex products and global procurement markets have increased the risk that subordinate components may not be available from the manufacturer on time or not conforming to specifications at the time production starts.

In order to identify these risks at an early stage in the course of the project and thus be able to establish remedial measures early on in the project, the method of advance quality planning was established in the 1990s. In the early 2000s, this method was further developed in Germany to ensure maturity. In this process, the maturity of the project is evaluated through the supply chain and, together with communication cascades, the risks are identified and minimized.
